I am excited for April, but more than just for the Gregorian month of April, I’m excited for Nisan(Abib). This year Nisan 1st falls on the same day as April 1st does.
Why am I excited you may ask? Several reasons.
The biggest is what is going to happen in the heavens this year and next. God told us that the sun and moon were to mark times and seasons and especially appointments (מועד – Mowed). In this information age we can use computers and math to see when planets and celestial bodies are going to be where at what time. We know that in 2014 and in 2015 there is going to be a total lunar eclipse (or blood moon) on Passover and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) the spring feast and the fall feast. This occurrence (called a tetrad) is incredibly rare and has happened 3 other times in history that we know of back-to-back like this; 1493, 1949, and 1967.
In 1493 and 94 the Muslims were defeated in Spain and the Jews were persecuted during the Spanish Inquisition being forced to leave and wander Europe. Christopher Columbus was considered to be a Jew and was commissioned to find the new world that would become a refuge for the Jews. Fulfilling the scripture saying they will be driven to the ends of the earth.
The next tetrad in 1949-50 happened at the end of World War 2 after the holocaust and when the Jews came back to occupy Israel. Fulfilling the prophesy that they will be returned to the home land.
Then finally in 1967-68 Jerusalem became the capital and Israel became a nation once more.
So what’s going to happen this year? . . . I don’t know, but hang on for the ride.
In my own personal life Nisan 5774 marks exactly 40 (Jewish) months since I lost my good paying job forcing my family and I to move in with my in-laws. And we all know how God likes the number 40 when it comes to finally leaving a “wilderness”. So I guess we’ll see what happens.
